The Pipiwai Trail

Pack a lunch and hop in the car for a quintessential Hawaiian day trip. 30 Miles east of Hana a freshwater stream meets the Pacific. Park at the Kipahulu visitor center and hike the 4 mile trail (roundtrip) for a scenic day hike.

The first landmark you will hit is the huge Banyan tree.

Then Makahiku Falls is the first 200 foot falls with a great view. Swimming is frowned upon but possible on the pool overlooking the ledge.

Follow the trail into an old Bamboo forrest.

Another ½ Mile or so takes you to the back wall and Waimoku Falls. Over 400 feet tall!

Make your way back down the trail and follow it all the way to the ocean. Beneath the visitor center are the Pools of Ohe’o (also known as the Seven Sacred Pools). Have some lunch and a swim!

Enjoy some cliff diving as you make your way up to the bridge.

PS– you can also camp here! Would be a great spot to spend a night.
